What’s a better way to start off a blog than with a manifesto right? Now, there might be some more mainstream and possibly more effective ways like writing a couple thorough and amazing pillar articles or Introducing yourself to the blogosphere. But hey, different is good right?

I’ve decided to write this manifesto to define this blog and what I hope to accomplish by blogging. I also am writing it it to motivate, inspire and educate readers.

The Young Freelancer’s Manifesto:

Yes, we could work in a coffee shop or at a restaurant and maybe even for one of those, you know, companies. We could be like our friends and have a regular, and probably measly, paycheck and get by.

But are we really doing what we want to do? Are we satisfied with our situation? Are we living up to our full potential and taking some initiative?

And yeah, you clients out there could hire a “seasoned” freelancer or even a big firm for your next project and everything would be peachy.

But wait. Think about it for a moment. Did you really get the bang for your buck?
Could you have gotten the same or even a better finished product for less? Most importantly did you know the name of the person that put the effort in and will you remember it? Will they remember you?

In either case, know this:

we are innovative and creative
we know what’s going on
we can handle ourselves.
we are excited about our work.
we are cost effective but cost aware.
we have fresh faces and fresh perspectives
we are in touch with our industry and its pulse
we play well with others
we are dependable and grateful
we are ambitious and motivated
we learn by doing
we are well rounded
we are specialized
we are networkers
we work well under pressure
we are students
we are professionals
we can manage our time
we love our jobs
we are always looking towards the future
we know how to sell ourselves
we have unlimited growth potential
we are undervalued
we are unique
we are freelancers
we are young.

I encourage readers or anyone who comes across this to please leave a comment and add to The Freelancer’s Manifesto. I plan for this to grow and change and you can be a part of that change.
